“No Bad Slides: Scientific Presentation for all Audiences”
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2016, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
MSOB Conference Room X-275
Abstract:
Too many biomedical research presentations have become little more than dizzying whirlwinds of incomprehensible slides, delivered at lightning speed, with font sizes too small to read, and abbreviations known only to the speaker. This talk cures this condition. It will identify specific steps to help scientists develop concise and effective presentations for audiences with varying backgrounds and knowledge.

David Rubenson is the soon to be outgoing Administrative Director of the Stanford Cancer Institute. Prior to this he spent 7 years as Director of Special Projects at City of Hope where one of his major activities was to help physicians and scientists develop presentations. He has taught formal presentation courses at Stanford, City of Hope, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. He also spent 20 years at the RAND Corporation where he received training in presentation techniques and developed hundreds of presentations for audiences at all levels of government, foundations, academia, and industry.
