Contemplation by Design (CBD) Summit @ Stanford University | Stanford | California | United States

Free events will be offered Nov. 1-9, 2017 to further balance, tranquility, resilience, and creative excellence. CBD Summit participants will have the opportunity to take a break from their high-level output of productivity and innovation in order to rest and renew the mind-body-spirit. Some events from this year include:

  • Compassion in Healthcare: Best practices by corporations, clinicians and care recipients, a panel hosted by Dean Lloyd Minor of the School of Medicine and Mickey Trockel, MD; Wednesday, November 1st from 5:45-7:00pm
  • Mindful Cultivation and Positive Neuroplasticity by Rick Hanson, PhD, author of Buddha’s Brain and Hardwired for Happiness, on the importance of overcoming the brain’s negativity bias to cultivate resilience, happiness, and compassion; Thursday, November 2nd from 6:30-8:30pm
  • Neurobiology of Breathing and Tranquility by Kevin Yackle, MD, on his research on the neurobiological connections between breathing and calmness; November 6th from 5:45-7:00pm 
  • Keynote with Alice Walker, Taking the Arrow Out of the Heart: Noticing where you are, and who or what is there with you, by Alice Walker, renowned author and activist, on the ways in which we can spend our time blaming those who hurt us while leaving our wounds untended; Wednesday, November 8th from 7:00-9:00pm
