Please join SCCR Lead Coordinator Sumana Shashidhar, M.Sc, MA, in an interactive class that will provide you with an overview of commonly sampled biospecimens in clinical research studies, why they are collected and what information they can give you. Topics covered include:
- Types of biospecimens and ways to sample them
- General overview of the contents of a study kit
- A guide to the color code of collection tubes
- How most commonly sampled biospecimens are processed and why
About the instructor:
Sumana Shashidhar, M.Sc, MA, began her career as a basic research scientist in the Biotech Industry in 2002. She joined the Department of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) at Stanford University in 2004, in the lab of Dr. Wes Brown. She has been a study coordinator for the last 6 years, in BMT working on over 14 industry sponsored drug trials. She joined the SCCR team in 2015, and helps support and promote investigator-initiated clinical research in the Department of Medicine (DoM) as well as collaborations across the School of Medicine and Stanford University
