Extremis is the highly decorated short documentary film featuring the work of Dr. Jessica Zitter MD, MPH, Critical and Palliative Care Physician, and her team in the ICU of Oakland’s Highland Hospital. It follows ICU patients and their families as they struggle to deal with end-of-life decisions, highlighting the need for better end-of-life choices.

Dr. Jessica Zitter is a national advocate for improving the way people die in America. She is the author of the newly released Extreme Measures: Finding a Better Path to the End of Life. Follwing the film and discussion, join us for a book signing with Dr. Zitter.  Books will be available for purchase.

Shoshana Ungerleider, MD is an internist practicing hospital medicine at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco. She founded the Ungerleider Palliative Care Education Fund to support innovative programs that further palliative care education at every level and was a major funder of Extremis.
