Tanya Gupta

Gupta is a Bay Area native with longstanding ties to Stanford. She spent summers in high school and college working in the labs of Marlene Rabinovitch, MD, Vinicio de Jesus Perez, MD, David Stevenson, MD, and Gary Shaw, MD. She completed the University of California, San Diego’s prestigious eight-year baccalaureate/MD track in just seven years, and received the highest GPA of all undergraduate Biology majors. Tanya has spent her residency studying hereditary breast cancer, and has distinguished herself by her outstanding commitment to her patients and her calm, methodical approach to everything she does.

Ashish Sarraju

Medical School: Northwestern University
Career Plans: 
Cardiovascular Medicine

As an undergraduate, Sarraju studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Boston University. He later enrolled at Northwestern University for medical school. Ashish has thrived as a Stanford resident, earning the highest possible marks on every rotation. At Stanford, Ashish worked with David Maron, MD, and Josh Knowles, MD, studying dyslipidemia, and he is planning a career in preventative cardiology.

Naomi Serling-Boyd

Medical School: University of California, Los Angeles
Career Plans: 
Rheumatology

Naomi Serling-Boyd graduated summa cum laude from UCLA, with a BS in Biochemstiry. She stayed at UCLA for medical school, where she was one of the top students – graduating AOA and earning her school’s highest recommendations. Naomi is known for her leadership, enthusiasm, and clinical acumen. During her residency, she worked with Lori Chung, MD, researching scleroderma, and has been an advocate for quality improvement efforts. Naomi is also a member of Stanford Medical Jeopardy team, and she will be competing in the national Medical Jeopardy competition this spring.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, several support structures for children and their families have been disrupted. Underserved communities who were already disadvantaged prior to the pandemic now face further setbacks with regards to accessing digital resources, mental health services, food and housing support, and remote learning. On the frontlines of this battle are our educators who are grappling with the complexities of how to support their students during these uncertain times.

The Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences in partnership with Born in Bradford and the Centre for Applied Education Research cordially invite you to join a virtual conference where we will learn how researchers in the US and UK are tackling these issues.
