SAFE Gun Safety Awareness Rally and Seminar @ LK130, Li Ka Shing Center

Rally at Noon, Seminar 12:30-2:30

SAFE (www.standsafe.org) is planning on leading another nationwide gun violence awareness event at Stanford and at our 45+ medical school chapters in the US.  The recent spate of mass shootings (on top of the 40,000 Americans who lost their lives in the last year) emphasizes the importance of U.S. doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals leading the way to eliminate the American firearms violence epidemic through research, education, and evidence-based policy.

The plan for our Stanford Campus is to meet on the Dean’s Lawn at 1200 for a dignified rally and some brief remarks.  From 1230-230 at LKSC 130 we will be having a high quality educational seminar on giving health care providers and public health professionals some of the tools they can use to educate their patients on gun violence prevention and to serve as advocates in their communities.  We will have speakers from our School of Medicine faculty, Stanford’s Law School, UC Davis and UCSF, and one of our Stanford medical students.
