The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology presents:
Gastroenterology Motility Symposium
Functional gastrointestinal and motility disorders are the most common GI disorders that affect the general population and drive patients to seek medical care. Symptoms related to motility disorders are nonspecific and impact quality of life, but have no identifiable structural abnormalities. These disorders are due to abnormalities of motility, visceral sensation, immune function, microbiome and/or central processing. The goal of this interactive and case based symposium is to update participants on the criteria for diagnosing functional GI and motility disorders and discuss treatment options to allow clinicians to tailor therapies based on symptoms, comorbidities and preferences.
Learning objectives:
– Diagnose and understand functional GI and motility disorders
– Understand and implement evidence based therapies for functional GI disorders
– Explore therapies based on an understanding of pathophysiology when evidence is lacking
