Join the Department of Medicine’s Medical Grand Rounds Special Speaker, Mr. Timothy Geithner, 75th United States Secretary of the Treasury under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013 and the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2003 to 2009, following service in the Clinton administration. He began his U.S. government career with the Treasury Department in 1988. Mr. Geithner Chairs the Program on Financial Stability at the Yale University School of Management, where he is also a visiting lecturer. He is Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the International Rescue Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Group of Thirty. Mr. Geithner holds a B.A. in government and Asian studies from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in international economics and East Asian studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He now serves as president of Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm.

Abraham Verghese, MD, will interview Mr. Geithner on the “Stress Test: Decision Making in Crisis.” The focus will be lessons for medicine from Wall Street’s 2008 crisis.
