The Revised Common Rule for Human Subjects Protections @ Li Ka Shing Center, LK130

The Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects, known as the “Common Rule,” was revised in 2018 with an implementation date of 1/21/19. This class will provide an overview of the changes to the Common Rule and how these changes may impact your application to the IRB.

The course will discuss changes to the IRB regulations and how these changes are being implemented.   Workshop attendees will learn about:

  • Applicability of the Revised Common Rule
  • Revised Definitions
  • New & Revised Informed Consent Requirements
  • New & Revised Exemptions
  • Changes in Continuing Review

This course is considered an elective in the Clinical Research Operations Program. It can be taken independently of the program, but an evaluation is required.
